Description

Looking for a slower pace that connects you with nature? French Lick Farms offers a secluded and quiet location with close to town convenience. We are surrounded by rolling hills, walking trails, a fishing pond, a winding river, beautiful views and nature at its finest.  We offer three distinctly different accommodation including this “off the grid” riverfront cabin making us one of the most unique and memorable vacation destinations in the area.

The space

The Treehouse is a unique "off the grid" solar/propane/generator powered cabin on French Lick Farms. It's perfect if you're not ready to be around others or are looking for a remote stay to leave the stress of everyday life behind and reconnect with nature.   

The first floor of the 2-Story Treehouse features an RV style kitchen with propane range, propane refrigerator, dining area (convertible to a queen bed - see the last photo for the listing), full bathroom, propane fireplace for heat in the winter and spiral staircase to the second floor.

The second floor features a queen size bed, closet, desk and the most amazing views on the property from the second story wrap around porch. The second story patio also features a wood burning potbelly stove for those cool evenings. You will experience sunsets from your private patio overlooking the Lost River and neighboring farm you won't soon forget! It's not uncommon to see 20 deer in the evening grazing in the field behind the property.

The bedroom does have a small TV and DVD player. There is a large selection of DVD's available if you want to watch TV.

The first floor patio deck features an oversized outdoor grill, picnic table for dining and a fire pit.

We recently added an ultra quiet generator to power the ductless A/C in the second floor bedroom to cool the property for those summer evenings.

"Off the grid" means there is not electricity on the property. It doesn't mean we don't have power, heat, lights, etc. It just means we are fully powered by propane, solar, and batteries. So, the property is self contained and energy efficient. Everything - lights, heat, refrigerator, stove, oven, hot water and tv either runs off solar, batteries or propane. I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have so please don't hesitate to ask. Because this is an "off the grid" cabin, there is no internet, WiFi or cable service, so if you are looking to check out and disconnect - this is the perfect property for you. The cell service is spotty depending on your provider: T-Moblie and Verizon have better service/reception than AT&T and Sprint.

If you are looking for a more full-service hotel type stay or need to work/stay connected this may not be the right property for you. Feel free to ask any questions you may have to make sure we can meet your needs or feel free to check out one of our listings in The Lodge about 1/4 mile away if you need to stay connected but still want to experience everything French Lick Farms has to offer!

Guest staying on property do have access to all the amenities in The Lodge including TV, Internet and WiFi however it is about 1/4 mile away from the Treehouse.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the entire 80 acre property including hiking, walking trails, firepits and fishing pond.

The property previously had a restaurant on-site at “The Lodge” so there is a “shared” kitchen and restaurant style dining area that you have access to. It has a full kitchen, bar top, dining tables, booths if you need a little more space to spread out, do some work, check email or catch the news. It’s also great for game night, cookouts and campfires! There is also WiFi available in The Lodge.

There is a really cool outdoor cooker, a couple of gas grills, a fire-pit, a huge front porch and you are welcome to use that space. But it along with the kitchen area will be shared with our caretakers along with other guests in the main building.

Other things to note

We do provide firewood and lighter fluid for the firepit as well as oil for the tiki torches located throughout the property.

This is an “off the grid” cabin so power supply is solar, propane and a generator. There are a ton of low voltage lights, gas tankless hot water heater, gas fireplace, gas stove and batteries for backup but it’s more like RV living than “Hotel” living. There are USB's for charging phones but there is only 1 outlet in the kitchen that requires the the generator to be running to activate. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

We are pet friendly so please feel free to bring your 4 legged friends along!
