IT IS TIME TO RACE!!!
12/14/2009
The French Lick/West Baden Indoor Karting Center is officially "starting their engines" on December 17th! A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for 2 p.m. at the former Kimball manufacturing building in West Baden to unveil the latest form of recreation to hit the Valley. Owners Brian and Tina
Slinkard of Bedford have transformed the building into a first-class entertainment center
complete with a 1250ft. road course track, Trackside CafÈ, retail shop and arcade games.
The center has been in a soft opening phase for the last 3 weeks with karting available on
a limited basis. Come Thursday the entire center will be open from 11am-10pm
Monday-Thursday; 11am-Midnight on weekends; and Noon to 6pm on Sunday. The
Trackside restaurant features a pizza buffet and salad bar along with items off the grill
including burgers, rib-eye sandwiches and more. The gift shop has a variety of selections
for all ages including racing apparel, home dÈcor items and fun selections for kids.
The Indoor Karting Center Grand Opening will kick off on December 17th at 2pm with a
ribbon cutting. This will be followed by an inaugural race between representatives of the
French Lick and West Baden town councils. The FLWB Karting logo depicts two cars
racing with one labeled "FL" and the other "WB". It is only fitting to have representatives
of the two town councils on the track in the first official race.
The Grand Opening weekend includes a live remote radio broadcast from WBIW in
Bedford on Friday December18th and another remote on Saturday with WFLQ of French
Lick. There are giveaways and other special events planned throughout the grand
opening weekend.
An elevated viewing area of the track provides excellent seating to watch the races and
dine at the same time. The state of the art timing system and TV monitors will keep
everyone on the edge of their seats as they follow the action all the way to the checkered
flag. The timing systems monitors lap times and laps completed with each racer is given
a printout of their race finish and times.
The European-style Sodi-karts can reach speeds up to 40mph. A standard race consists of
between 12-15 laps and 8 minutes. They are priced at $10 for youth and $12 for adults.
Memberships are available where quantity purchasing of races brings the price to $8 for
youth and $10 for adults.
The facility is tailored for business meetings, reunions, birthday parties and other
gatherings. In the near future two large banquet rooms will be ready to comfortably
accommodate large groups for corporate outings and team building events. Racing
leagues are planned for early next year along with many other exciting events. Please
